I am tired to celebrate every New Year in dress, something should be changed. Every year i see a lot of girls in uncomfortable dresses and shoes. What is the stereotype to wear dresses, false lashes and heels-killers? In Russia we also have traditions to eat salad Olivier, drink a lot of alcohol, listen congratulations from the president and sleep under the Christmas tree. Just try to combine these two trends and imagine how blue and gloomy is it. My thoughts and sadness about these patterns bring me up to this article. Thus, I’m going to offer you my ideas, what we can wear this wonderful night. Of course there…

«A women needs ropes and ropes of pearls» said beautiful Coco Chanel and she was right. Chanel has carried out a revolution in the minds of women all over the world. Now, naked woman is not considered as a nude woman, but woman without a pearl necklace is. Have you ever thought about the origin of this jewelry? Reconstruction of the Finnish costume: Beauty transformation (part 2)

The Finnish history of the 20th century is not so simple. Transformation of the standards at that time has played a huge role in the culture and style of the Finnish people. In towns, make-up was no longer considered as frivolous as it had been before. Painting your lips and powdering your nose — even in public places — was positively fashionable. Women found their role models in the great stars of the silver screen. The sales and promotion of cosmetic grew. Shops offered both Max Factor and Elizabeth Arden cosmetics and Eau de Cologne 4711. Coco Chanel`s perfume Chanel No. 5 had been on the market since the begining…

Reconstruction of the Finnish costume (part 1)

There is a wide range of exhibits in the State Museum of Finland in Helsinki. I had a pleasure of meeting an amazing history of the Finnish costume, and now I’m going to tell you about it. The reconstruction is based on the finds of a 10-11th century at the Luistari cemetery in Eura, Western Finland. The ancient Eura costume was the first Finnish reconstruction with a mantle dress of the so-called peplos type. The reconstruction is based on the finds of a single grave, but a dress with the same basic model was probably in use throughout Southwestern Finland during the Viking Age. The costume was ordered for the…

    Crazy for art

Recently I’ve been thinking how to make print in the form of Michelangelo’s frescoes on my sweatshirts, and world designers almost in unison decorated their collections by the famous paintings. Skirts look like naturalistic paintings, dresses with accurate brushstrokes and tops with surrealism — it’s definitely cool! The first thing what attracted my attention was a winter 2014 collection of Dolce and Gabbana. There are no words to describe my feelings for it. It is indescribably beautiful, elegant and has a national flavor. Montreal cathedral frescoes, crowns, luxury and gold. Certainly it is divine. Givenchy Men’s collection caused a serious religious scandal. Tisci borrowed the images of saints from William Bouguereau. Fragments of the «Pieta»…

    Twist&tweed

Tweed is a rough woollen fabric, which is made by a special unfinished technology. It has a open, flexible texture and possibility to create direct lines. Unusual color combinations are obtained by twisting together differently coloured woollen strands into a two-or three-ply yarn. Originally tweed called twill, but it has received a different name because of the randomness and mistakes of a merchant. It`s not surprise that the birthplace of tweed is Scotland. In those days the economy has grown at the expense of woolen industry, the Scots are also famous for their delicious kilts. This fabric is a source of British national pride in the same list with the whiskey and kilts. The…

    Man on the horseback

Hermès was founded by Thierry Hermès in 1837, but few people know that the company were only manufactured saddles and clothing for riders. Today the range of the products includes leather, perfumery and other luxury goods. Why Thierry Hermes started to make bags? Maybe it was profitably, maybe it was inspired by muse.  In my opinion people have given too much importance to Birkin bag. High-quality leather, expensive service, the brand — is it all? Firstly bags weigh a lot, and secondly it is considered as travel bag (don`t grieve the girls in nightclubs and restaurants). I don`t even want to mention the price, but alas, in Moscow, it is more than 90 thousand…
