Crazy for art
Recently I’ve been thinking how to make print in the form of Michelangelo’s frescoes on my sweatshirts, and world designers almost in unison decorated their collections by the famous paintings. Skirts look like naturalistic paintings, dresses with accurate brushstrokes and tops with surrealism — it’s definitely cool!
The first thing what attracted my attention was a winter 2014 collection of Dolce and Gabbana. There are no words to describe my feelings for it. It is indescribably beautiful, elegant and has a national flavor. Montreal cathedral frescoes, crowns, luxury and gold. Certainly it is divine.

Givenchy Men’s collection caused a serious religious scandal. Tisci borrowed the images of saints from William Bouguereau. Fragments of the «Pieta» with Jesus Christ and variations of «Madonna» flashed on sweatshirts and t-shirts in the collection S/S 13.
Carolina Herrera, Antoni and Alison, The Blonds, Miharayasuhiro, Cedric Charlier, Band of Outsiders (from the left to the right) was inspired by modern artists. Fashion show S/S 13 was full of brushstrokes and bright touches.
Another spectacular show is Carven collection in 2012. The young designer Guillaume Henry used fragments of the triptych «The Garden of Earthly Delights» and the picture «The Seven Deadly Sins and the Four Last Things» by Hieronymus Bosch on dresses and skirts. «The Garden of Earthly Delights» is the most famous work of the Dutch artist. It is based on the writing of the biblical texts and symbolizes the seduction of the world.
Jean-Charles De Castelbajac printed on the clothes works of the American artist Keith Haring, and in 2013 season he turned to the famous painting by John Everett Millais ‘Ophelia’ based on the «Hamlet» by William Shakespeare and «The Bridesmaid» with black cross. No questions, grim and beautiful, fabrics are perfect.
Rodarte showed on the catwalk marvelous Van Gogh’s sunflowers. Unforgettable classic has previously been used by other designers. However Rodarte S/S 12 «Sunflowers» is still beautiful.
My favorite artist Andy Warhol inspires not only me. Dior used some of Warhol’s sketches from the 1950s into the house’s fall’13 collection. The collection was a very relevant and unusual. Despite the provocative nature of Warhol’s early work clothes came out very elegant and classic.
