    50 shades of pearls

«A women needs ropes and ropes of pearls» said beautiful Coco Chanel and she was right. Chanel has carried out a revolution in the minds of women all over the world. Now, naked woman is not considered as a nude woman, but woman without a pearl necklace is. Have you ever thought about the origin of this jewelry? These pellets have a long and interesting history that began much earlier than Coco erected pearls on the throne of elegance and beauty.   The name “pearl” supposedly comes from the East, where it was found, but there are a lot of legends about the birth. According to old Chinese legend, when dragons were…

Reconstruction of the Finnish costume: Beauty transformation (part 2)

The Finnish history of the 20th century is not so simple. Transformation of the standards at that time has played a huge role in the culture and style of the Finnish people. In towns, make-up was no longer considered as frivolous as it had been before. Painting your lips and powdering your nose — even in public places — was positively fashionable. Women found their role models in the great stars of the silver screen. The sales and promotion of cosmetic grew. Shops offered both Max Factor and Elizabeth Arden cosmetics and Eau de Cologne 4711. Coco Chanel`s perfume Chanel No. 5 had been on the market since the begining…

Reconstruction of the Finnish costume (part 1)

There is a wide range of exhibits in the State Museum of Finland in Helsinki. I had a pleasure of meeting an amazing history of the Finnish costume, and now I’m going to tell you about it. The reconstruction is based on the finds of a 10-11th century at the Luistari cemetery in Eura, Western Finland. The ancient Eura costume was the first Finnish reconstruction with a mantle dress of the so-called peplos type. The reconstruction is based on the finds of a single grave, but a dress with the same basic model was probably in use throughout Southwestern Finland during the Viking Age. The costume was ordered for the…

    Welcome to jungle

Perhaps one of the most summer trends, bright, juicy and creating a holiday mood is a tropical print. Apart from the floral print it took the top place on the catwalks of the world. We admire and wear floral print for several seasons in contrast to tropical. This year, designers presented palm trees, exotic animals and birds in all summer collections, and the next summer season promises to be even more interesting. Speaking about this season, I’d like to highlight the mass market. The most interesting collections was Zara, H&M and River Island. It was the really great look at the youth and summer fashion trends. Starting from the swimwear and finishing with trousers…

    Man on the horseback

Hermès was founded by Thierry Hermès in 1837, but few people know that the company were only manufactured saddles and clothing for riders. Today the range of the products includes leather, perfumery and other luxury goods. Why Thierry Hermes started to make bags? Maybe it was profitably, maybe it was inspired by muse.  In my opinion people have given too much importance to Birkin bag. High-quality leather, expensive service, the brand — is it all? Firstly bags weigh a lot, and secondly it is considered as travel bag (don`t grieve the girls in nightclubs and restaurants). I don`t even want to mention the price, but alas, in Moscow, it is more than 90 thousand…

    Gala’s galaxy

The great artist Salvador Dali was not a simple love with a stunning Russian woman Elena Diakonova. This woman is has attracted lot of men but she needed a real blue-blooded prince. Even when she married the poet Paul Eluard, she continued her search. At one moment Elena has created her own unique style, calling herself by the name Gala. It was a coincidence, and ‘gala’ is a celebration in Spanish. However, the name was fixed forever.  She loved the soiree, luxury and wealth, but her main feature is the unrivaled intuition. When she met Dali, he immediately felt in her inimitable style and grace. Her castle in Catalonia is…

    Flashy and bright

Desigual is a spanish fashion brand based in Barcelona. Casual style of the cloths is so unexpectedly bright: floral prints, surreal graffiti, intensive patterns. It is very similar to Barcelona. This city is full of colors and unexpected combonations. Desigual is so beautiful like a flowers on la Rambla. The cloths is perfect as a sculptor Gaudi architecture, but it`s an acquired taste. Not everyone dared so much that would suit a bright clothes. If would like to wear this brand, you must have a refined sense of style.   To be honest i was very afraid to buy such cloths, worrying about the wrong collaboration.  Once i had found…
